Mono Katari Vol.1 Photographer - Melanie Hinds
Share
We feel lucky to have Mel in this project. First of all, I didn’t know who she was, but she was a big fan of the heart-touching illustrator Yuiko Uto (@buttonsink). At that time, I was looking for a photographer who could capture the essence of things (not flashy or illusionary) to show the real individual characters, even if those are negative images... Now, she has become an important part of the storytelling "Mono Katari."
Arigato! Thank you, Mel!

Melanie Hinds
Melanie Hinds is an Australian photojournalist whose evocative images have graced the pages of The Guardian, The Wire, Broadsheet and Frankie magazine amongst others. Born and raised in Australia,
Melanie's unique journey to photojournalism is as compelling as the stories she captures.
Before finding her passion for photography, Melanie served as a Military Dog Handler, with the Royal Australian Air Force. This experience imbued her with a profound understanding of discipline, loyalty, and the stark realities of conflict. Her transition from the military to photojournalism was driven by a desire to document the intricate tapestry of human experiences and to shed light on stories
that often go untold.
She utilises an editorial aesthetic in delivering a documentary style to create a unique interpretation. The resulting imagery is bold curated images that act to deliver a deeper message.
She is often inspired by domestic and cultural scenes that can invite you to connect with lived experiences.
